Creative direction, interaction design, content strategy

Observation decks are place of sweeping vistas and new perspectives. However, they must provide context and meaning to what the visitor is looking at. The trick to doing so effectively is to ensure that one doesn’t overwhelm the user, or distract or distance them from the view

Montparnasse56 operates the One Liberty Place observation deck in Philadelphia, where I (through Stimulant) collaborated with photography studio Panogs to design a 360° zoomable gigapixel panorama with over 100 points of interest. Deployed on six touchscreen PCs, each device’s view was hand-calibrated to what could be seen from the nearby windows. The system supported five different languages, day and night panoramas, and more.
